Charity was born in 1779. She was the daughter of John Courtis and Elizabeth Carnbellack.[1]
In 1802, Charity had a son named Cuthbert. She was not married and the baptism records do not list the father's name however given the name she bestowed on the baby it would not be unreasonable to draw the conclusion that the father was Cutherbert Tremayne (1749-1827).[2]
Charity (aged 24) married William Smith (aged 55) in 1803.[3] They had three children:
