Biography

Josias Courtys probably baptized 3 April 1585 at Kilkhampton, son of John and Elizabeth. Josias Curtis married Anne Cater on 22 Jan 1627/28 at Mullion. Will of Josias Courtis alias Curteis, yeoman, of Mullion 15 Oct 1634 [CRO ref AP/C/834] left to wife Anne and children his part of the tenement called Garra & held since 20 Oct 1627. He made his mark and witnessed by John Hall, Peter Orger and John Roskelly. A true inventory was taken by John Tonken and Richard Priske and comprised a third part of the tenement called Garra, a little mow of corn, wheat, barley and oats, a red mare, a yearling and calf, a little sow and four small pigs, one ewe, two hoggetts, four geese, one hen, two gallons of butter, fish and other provisions, a brass pan, pewter dish, a little brass candlestick , little table board, a skillett, four other candlesticks, a shovel , a little brandiron, a covertet, two blankets and bedsheets with the bolster, ten pounds of coal, wearing apparell,a little handthared, a turf iron and things forgotten
