I haven't been on a lot lately. I need to get back to it. My husband who was a Korean War Veteran, had a stroke over a year ago and he passed August 8, 2024. I was his full-time caregiver. I do want to get back into working with the different projects. I miss it all. Thank you for the reminder.

Hi Linda,

Looks like you have been inactive on WikiTree for a while. Is there anything I can help with?

Hi Robin,

My husband died. I was his caregiver for nearly a year and we were married, it would have been 52 years on August 30, this year. He passed on August 8, 2023. So much to do and I had to go back to work. I do need to get back into it. I miss it, I just seem to be floundering.

Hi Linda,

I sent you a check-in message a week ago about the Military and War Project to ask you about your continued involvement but have not yet heard back from you. Do you still want to be in the project? If I don’t hear from you by the same time next week I’ll assume that you’ve moved on to other things but you’re most welcome to re-join the project at any time.

Best wishes,

Mary~ Project Coordinator, Military and War Project

I am so sorry I do not remember the email, but I do want to be part of it. However, my husband, who is a Korean War Vet, has been having some health issues. I nearly lost him in Sept and things were put aside. He had renal failure and while that seems to have been fixed we thought he is having more issues with it. We are a military family. Grandson is in the Army and with more data will be able to do the DAR and SAR. I also work full time. I don't know what to do to help on the project.

Linda thanks for replying to the Military and War check in with your comment with a Korean War vet husband, grandson in the Army and other family with DAR and SAR. I am posting a list of what to do to help in the project. This does not mean you have to do all of it at once, just gradually.

1) read the project page which explains what to do https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Military_and_War

2) Find your potential Military Relatives,

3) Research sources to prove the relatives are actually military and the unit they served in

4) After writing a biography with sources to prove this, Format Biography.

5) Add stickers and/or categories to the profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Military_and_War_Stickers https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1254549/using-the-war-stickers-the-great-war

6) On the Project page 2/3 down the page is a red box for the correct sticker to use for each project.

7) The sticker should be placed below the Biography header. And if you have trouble with stickers, you also can ask on g2g for help.

8) You can add a sticker to your page showing that you are a member of Military and War

9) You can add tags for Military and War,, Civil VIETNAM WAR_OF_1812 WORLD-WAR-II, Civil War, 1776

10 Reply to the Military and War check in, (Which you have done)

Hi!

If you're a member of the Google Group,* then you've heard that the Magna Carta Project has retired the Gateway Guardian initiative. Would you delete or replace your Gateway Guardian sticker please?

WikiTree has two relatively new stickers - Template:Relationship_Sticker and Template:Connection Sticker - that you might want to use if you're related to or connected to the Gateway. There's also the Template:Descendant sticker that you can use. To see tailored coding for these stickers (e.g., with the Magna Carta Project logo), please see Space: Magna Carta Stickers#sticker.

Thanks! Liz

* If you're not and would like to be, please send a request to https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/wikitreemagnacarta (be sure to include your WikiTree ID; the Google Group is no longer "Project members only", but it is restricted to WikiTree members).

Yes, I have asked before, and I don't get a clear-cut answer. Some things I get right off the bad, others not so much. I want to learn, I am pre-1700 certified, and while I do have 1600 1500 and earlier on Ancestory, I don't here. I don't know if re-uploading a new Gedcom would help me get to be pre- 1600 1500 etc or not. I have tried to access and get the certification done, however, it isn't working and no one tells me how to fix it. While I do want to do more and yes life has gotten in the way, I have had to go to work full time. My husband is 88 and I am 73. I am fairly computer savvy, but I need guidance and I know people don't have time to do what I don't know to hold my hand and say this way, Linda. HELP

Hi Linda,

Please read our Project Members page and let me know if you want to take on the commitment of improving 6 post-1500 profiles in 6 months. Since you're not pre-1500 certified, you would join our post-1500 team.

If you are interested in remaining a project member, we have a HUGE list of profiles you can work on. The profiles need to be improved using our project's checklist. Michael Cayley or I will work with you (hold your hand) for a bit, I promise. :-)

If you're interested in the project, but don't want to "commit", you can join our Google Group and follow what we're working on. Please email me (or click reply, below) and let me know what you decide.

Thanks, Traci

You can review our membership requirements here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Magna_Carta_Project_Members.

We recognize that real life can sometimes intervene. Please let me know if you'd like an extension to complete these required contributions and how you plan to proceed. If you're not ready or able to make the required contributions at this time, I can remove your member badge and you can reapply to join the project later. You are welcome to remain in our Google Group whether you are a project member or not.

As part of an annual check-in of the WikiTree US Presidents Project we are asking members if they are planning to continue their contributions to the project. We are establishing a page where everyone can identify the President or Vice President that they wish to manage. Just respond to this message to let me know 1) Are you planning to continue with the Project and 2) do you have a specific President or Vice President that you are interested in.
posted by Robin Lee
I definitely want to continue. I tried to get on the page several times but had been unable to do so. Granted due to my fall and breaking my leg I have not been as active, but I do want to continue if I can.

Re: the name of the Air force changing from to Army, but when he retired, he was still in the Air Force. I am glad he is still with you. Thank your husband for his service during the Korean War.

I had a cousin in the Navy who served there also, but he is no longer with us.

Please let Paula know if you want to be in Military and War Project. Many of the subproject share the Military and War badge such as Korean War, Vietnam War, World War II, and some others. Of course the most recent wars are also subprojects under Military and War also.

Please thank your husband for his service during the Korean War. I hope he was a wonderful 87th birthday this October!

Would you like to be added to the Military and War Project? The Korean War Project is a subproject of Military and War.
