Frank Algia Collier was born on July 9, 1903, in Stephens, Ouachita County, Arkansas, to parents John Phobert Collier and Emma Evelyn (Inabnette) Collier. By 1910, the Collier family had moved to Nashville, Howard County, Arkansas.
On October 23, 1928, Frank married Lila Wilson in Columbia County, Arkansas. Two years later, in 1930, they resided in Stephens, Ouachita County, Arkansas, where Frank was employed as a painter, specializing in painting buses.
In 1931, seeking new opportunities, Frank relocated to Longview, Texas. It was here that he ventured into the business world by opening his first used furniture outlet just a few months after the move. Starting modestly in 1932 with a few pieces of furniture under a tarpaulin, Frank’s business acumen and dedication led to the establishment of Frank Collier Furniture. The business grew significantly, eventually spanning four acres and becoming one of the largest and oldest furniture stores in East Texas.
By 1940, Frank had firmly established himself in Longview, Gregg County, Texas. He not only owned his business but also served as a salesman manager. A decade later, in 1950, Frank continued to thrive in Longview, maintaining his role in the retail furniture business.
Frank Algia Collier passed away on April 23, 1988, in Gregg County, Arkansas. His final resting place is at Memory Park Cemetery in Longview, Harrison County, Texas, where he was laid to rest, leaving behind a legacy as a prominent and successful businessman in East Texas.
