Note

John Cockburn was at the address in 1841 census. No occupation shown or whether lodger. Presumably this is wife Jane's brother or other relation.

By 1851 he is shown as William's brother-in-law, and was deaf and dumb. At this stage there is no further evidence researched to establish if this was a permanent arrangement. John was 56 at this time (b.1795) and a journeyman shoemaker
