Mamre Clinton, daughter of Thomas Clinton (Clenton) of New Haven, was born 11 September 1747 and baptized as Memorost (Christ Church Statford) on 1 October 1747.
She married Joseph Davis, son of Nathaniel and Eunice (Tomlinson) Davis, about 1767. She and Joseph had at least five sons. Their son Isaac became a merchant in western New York. The others sons (William, Thomas, Joshua and Samuel Davis) were sailors and privateers, each being killed or lost at sea during the Quasi-War with France, 1798-1800.
Mamre died 28 September 1788 and was buried in Old Episcopal Graveyard in Ansonia, New Haven, Connecticut.
