Biography

Carl Wallace Clinton was born on 13 January 1899, the third son and fourth child of James Barnett Clinton and Louisa Abigail Cockrum. He passed away on 13 June 1966 and is buried in Kirk Cemetery, Ina, Jefferson, Illinois, United States with his second wife, Rosie.^{[1] [2] [3][4]}

Carl married two times.^[1]

1. Maude Marie Taylor around 1919 in Jefferson, Illinois, United States. They had two sons and one daughter. In 1927 she died young from tuberculosis. ^[1][5][6][7]

2. Rosalee "Rosie" Moss around 1929 in Jefferson, Illinois, United States. She had one daughter before marriage to Carl, and they had three daughters and one son.^[1]

Carl had a World War II draft card dated 14 February 1942, but he did not serve in the military.^[8]

In the 1940 census Carl (age 41), Laborer, was the married head of household in Elk Prairie, Jefferson, Illinois. He is with his second wife Rosie and her daughter, Geneva. Also enumerated is his son James with his first wife, Maude, and two daughters, Betty and Thelma, and one son, Thomas with Rosie. ^[13]

In the 1950 census Carl (age 51), Farmer, was the married head of household in Spring Garden, Jefferson, Illinois, United States. He is with his second wife Rosie and her daughter Geneva. Also enumerated are his daughter, Thelma, and son, Thomas, with Rosie.^[14]
