William Livingstone Chrystal (1846 - 1923)

Biography

William was born about 1846 in County Galway, Ireland. He was the son of George Chrystal and Ann (Livingstone?) Chrystal,

He emigrated to New Zealand in the early 1880's. He had intended to take up farming, but instead joined the police force as a detective, eventually becoming Chief Detective in Christchurch.

Kate McMenamen and William Livingstone Chrystal married in 1889 in New Zealand ^[1][2] and had the following children:

1. Algernon Wilkins Chrystal (1890-1957)
2. Reginald George Chrystal (1891-1972)
3. William Livingstone ^[3].
4. Leah Nora Chrystal (1894-1967)
5. Gerald Terawhiti Chrystal (1897-1971)
6. Jessie Mavis (Chrystal) Marrett (1900)^[4]

William died on the 28th of February 1923 in Christchurch, New Zealand ^{[5] [6] [7]}, and was buried at Avonside Anglican Cemetery in Christchurch, New Zealand ^[8].
