She died in the Germantown neighborhood. This had been Germantown Township, also known as German Township, a defunct township located in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. The municipality ceased to exist and was incorporated into the City of Philadelphia following the passage of the Act of Consolidation, 1854. But locals persisted in calling it by the defunct name... some with pride of their ancestry, others with the venom born of two World Wars.
