Biography
John Powles Cheyne was baptised at Hornsey St Mary church, Haringey, England, on 6 Jan 1827, the son of George and Jane Cheyne[1]
John married Emma Frances Gardner on 22 Dec 1851 at Holy Trinity church, Islington, England.[2]
The marriage record gives his occupation as Lieutenant in the Royal Navy, and that of his father, George Cheyne as Commander in the Royal Navy. Emma's father Charles Hurst Gardner was also a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.
He died in Feb 1902 at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.[3]
