Biography
Elisha was born in 1774, the son of Elisha Chapin and Eunice Jones. He enlisted as a marine in 1798. Sailed to the East Indies to protect American commerce, where he spent 3 years. He was also a veteran of the War of 1812, having served as a Lieut. in the 9th Regiment.[1] Elisha married Betsy Morgan in 1803.[2] He passed away in 1837.
