I'm not sure that I would used the word 'renounced' at the end. The Dk of Nfk visited him 'once and again' to persuade him (or his son by then) to claim the Dukedom when he (the 11th Duke) died in 1815, but they were staunch Quakers. His second cousin became 12th Duke, and the family set about cutting all reference to Edward, tearing out the page on which his baptism was recorded, and having borrowed the Douai Diaries which record his education, they never returned the 6th volume which mentions Edward, Thomas' great grandfather, and subsequent ducal histories pretend he never existed.
I have been able to link a family member you uploaded via Gedcom to a family buried in Derry City Cemetery, Northern Ireland.
Conel William O'Donel Long Alexander, husband of Hilda Barbara Bennett was the son of Joseph Alexander, and his wife, Frances Mary O'Donel Long.
Joseph and Frances are buried in Derry City Cemetery with two of their three sons. Their first son, Francis Gouldsbury Alexander died aged 5 months in April 1865. Their second son was Conel, who is remembered on the family headstone, although he was buried in Cork. Their third son, was also named Francis Gouldsbury Alexander and he lived 1869-1929. Francis G(presumably Gouldsbury also) was their maternal grandfather.
I have linked the profiles together for further information.
