That reference could be wrong, I believe it is an uploaded tree of someones heres the 1870 census of desoto ms that lists Eli and family (at the time) Also I believe the “G” could be for Graham (Mary’s maiden name) Ill do some more research in the meantime

Carter-48374 and Carter-13084 are not ready to be merged because: Though this appears to be the same person, there are issues with the parents' profiles: In one reference, Mary is listed as being in DeSoto, GA in 1870 instead of DeSoto MS, and her husband is listed as Elijah G. instead of Eli/Ely, making me think Elijah G. and Mary may be a different couple from the Eli and Mary listed in the 1860 and 1870 Census records to which our Grandpa Charley definitely belonged. For now, an unmerged match seems to be best.
