Hi Julie, I'm sure that you didn't realise it, but a couple of the profiles you have created recently are duplicates of ones that are already on WikiTree. I'll propose merges of them for you. It's a good idea when you create pre-1700 profiles to check if they are already on WikiTree. Also 'family documents' isn't an adequate source for pre-1700 profiles. This is the link to the Pre-1700 help page. If you have any questions, or would like some assistance, I'd be really happy to help you. Alternatively, you could talk to Debi who as left you a message below about a good pre-1700 project to join.

Regards, Gillian

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi again Julia,

Thanks for all your work on WikiTree and for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge. I noticed that you have begun adding profiles for the pre-1700 ancestors you have found in your search. Congratulations in getting back that far!

Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants. It looks like the US Southern Colonies Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

As collaborative genealogists, we need to tell each other our sources so that we can work together to asses the relative reliability of the source and the evidence it contains. The Sources - Examples section more fully explains what information needs to be included in source citations for pre-1700 profiles.

We're looking for reliable sources to add to the various lists. Would your sources be good additions?

Thanks,

Debi ~ WikiTree Greeter

Thanks for upgrading, Julia, you are all set to collaborate with our members now. I hope you discover as much about your family as I have about mine over the last several years.

Check out the How-to pages for some quick tips on working with both the Wiki pages and our other members. There is some great information in those pages.

If you have questions about how WikiTree works, let me know. You can use the "reply" link under this comment or click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.
