Phillip Henry Carlson was born in 1951 at or about Nundah a suburb of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia.
Phillip Henry Carlson was an Australian cricketer who played two Test matches for his country against England and four One Day Internationals (ODIs) in 1979. During the years when the cream of Australia's cricket talent was playing in World Series Cricket; Queensland First Class player Phil Carlson was called on to make his Test debut versus England at Adelaide from January 27 to February 01, 1979. And unfortunately his last also against the touring English at Sydney from February 10 - 14, 1979. He had also been twelfth man in two previous Test matches in that summer.
With the return of the World Series Cricket players the following summer, he was starved of opportunities, even at state level and retired at the end of the 1981 season. He was the first Queenslander to score a century and take ten wickets in a First Class match. This had been against New South Wales earlier in that same summer of 1978/79.
He passed away in July 2022 and was survived by his wife Sandi, children Kandy, Steen, Kurt, Hana and nine grandchildren..
