He lived with his parents in Brightling when he was young.[3][4]
By 1911 he had left home and was living in Brenchley, Kent working as a grocer's assistant.[5]
During World War I, Maurice enlisted in the Royal Sussex Regiment with the service number 2324, later 240485. Unfortunately, we do not have his service records but we know that he earned the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.[6]
Maurice married Alice Ruby Mitten on 20 Jul 1920 in Wadhurst, Sussex.[7][8] They had one child.
Maurice Donald Carley died on 20 Jul 1926 in Wadhurst, Sussex.[9][10] He was buried on 24 Jun 1926 in Wadhurst.[11] Maurice was 37 years old.
