He married Mildred Louise Whitt on 22 November 1960, in Alleghany, Virginia, United States.[3]
They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 4 daughters.[4]
He died on 28 November 2011, in Eagle Rock, Botetourt, Virginia, United States, at the age of 77,[5] and was buried in Galatia Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Eagle Rock, Botetourt, Virginia, United States.[6]
