Thomas, Lord Camoys (Camois)[1] alias Thomas, Lord Camois[2]

d. 28 Mar 1420/2, "wrongly given as 28 Mar 1419 on the brass of himself and his wife in the parish church in Trotton, Sussex, where he may also have commissioned wall-paintings."[1]

Occupation

"Thomas Camoys was more an organizer of war than a warrior, but his work at Agincourt earned him his place in history.

Camoys served with the retinue of his kinsman William, Lord Latimer, in a French expedition in 1380 and was knighted by the earl of Buckingham.[1]

1383: "Allied with more royalist courtiers, Camoys was elected member of parliament for Surrey, but disqualified because he was a banneret, who ‘were not to be elected knights of the shire.[5] Thereafter Camoys was summoned as baron to parliament and to the Scottish expedition of 1385.[1]

Burial of Sir Thomas Camoys, 1st Lord Camoys

(Royal Ancestry) Sir Thomas Camoys, 1st Lord Camoys, died 28 March 1421. His wife Elizabeth (had) died 20 April 1417. He an his 2nd wife Elizabeth were buried at Trotton, Sussex. England.

The parish church for Trotton is St. George's. Per an e-mail in August 2006 Rector Edward Doyle of St. George's stated to Alton Rogers: Elizabeth de Mortimer died 20 April 1417 and was buried in a tomb at the Trotton church with her 2nd husband, Sir Thomas Camoys. The tomb is in the chancel and goes right up to the altar rails. It is a very imposing tomb with brass plate of Elizabeth and Lord Camoys and a son.

Thomas Camoys, born in or before 1351. He married (1st) Elizabeth Louches, daughter of William Louches. They had one son, Richard, and one daughter, Alice. He married (2nd) after 3 June 1406 Elizabeth Mortimer, widow of Henry "Hotspur" Percy, styled le Fitz, and daughter of Edmund de Mortimer, Earl of March and Ulster, by Philippe, daughter of Lionel of Antwerp, younger son of King Edward III of England.
