  • Obituary From Find a Grave: "Osawatomie, Kansas, News, Thursday, June 5, 1930, page 1: Ella Ann Cameron. The death of Mrs. Ella Pearson, Monday morning, June 2, came as a shock to the community. Her illness was brief, lasting only a few weeks. Ella Ann Cameron was born in Gillespie, Illinois, June 20, 1849, and was the daughter of Andrew J. and Louisa Burnett Cameron. On December 8, 1870, she was united in marriage to Samuel Martin Pearson, whose death occurred two years ago in April. To this union were born three children, Paul Martin, of Philadelphia, Pa., Andrew Cameron, of New York City, and Camilla Pearson Brown, of Topeka. Mrs. Pearson was active in mercantile business with her husband for more than fifty years, besides taking personal charge of her home and children. She was a teacher in the Methodist Sunday School for more than half a century and had great pleasure in the hundreds of young people with whom she associated and came in contact. After the death of her husband, two years ago, she continued her home in Osawatomie, where she resided 34 years and had many friends, both among the old and young. Besides her three children, she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Cora Benedict, Golden City, Missouri, Mrs. Lula Long, of Coffeyville and Mrs. Martha Prewitt, of Chehalis, Washington, and one brother, Robert Cameron, of Arkansas City, 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Her three children and two sisters were all fortunate enough to be with her during her last illness. Mrs. Pearson was also an active member of the Womans Relief Corps, of Osawatomie. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church at 10:15 Wednesday June 4, Rev. R.K. Sutton officiating. Burial was at Mount Hope cemetery, Topeka."
