Alexander was born 15 Apr 1818 in Lancaster, Glengarry, Ontario, Canada. [1]
Alexander Cameron and Ellen Clarke married. [Assuming Ellen Ann is their eldest child, marriage likely took place about 1849.] They do show as married on the 1861 census as well as in family trees. They farmed and lived in a 2 storey brick house. The children in 1861 were Ellen A., 11, Margaret E., 4 and Alexander, 2. [2] Family histories say that Ellen died.
Alexander then married Jane Bachus, and they had more children: Maud E., John James and Alfred Ernest. Maud died young. [3] Jane had also died between 1869 and 1871. Alexander is a widower still farming in 1871. The children with him then were Helen Ann, 21, Margaret Elizabeth, 14, Alexd Daniel, 12, John James 8 and Alfred Earnest, 2. [4][5]
Alexander then married Lillian MacPherson. By 1881, Alexander was the Captain of a steam boat living with his wife Lillian who is 15 years younger than he. They had four children of Alexander's and a son of Lillian's at home. [6] In 1891, Albert shared a home with him and Lillian. [7] The household had the same residents in 1901. [8]
