Biography

John was born about 1813 in Bulmer, Essex, the son of William Bunn (~1791 - ) and Mary (Deal) Bunn (~1792 - ~1856) and he was christened on the 25th April 1813 at St Andrew's Church, Bulmer, Essex.^[1]

John married Mary English Barrel (~1809 - 1838) on the16th February 1838 in Bulmer, Essex.^[2]

In the 1841 census John (age 25) was in Bulmer, Essex, England.^[3]

Second Marriage

John's first wife Mary Barrel died in 1938 and he later married Mary Ann Rowe (~1823 - ) on the 9th November 1845 in Bulmer, Essex.^[4]

1851 Census on the 30th March 1851 John an agricultural labourer, was living in Church Road, Bulmer, Essex with his wife Mary and their children James, Charles and George.^[5]

1861 Census on the 7th April 1861 John was living in Church Road, Bulmer, Essex with his wife Mary and their children James, Charles, George, Eliza and John.^[6]

1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 John was living in Church Road, Bulmer, Essex with his wife Mary and their children James, Charles, George, Eliza, John and Harry.^[7]

John died in 1877. BULMER. Sudden Death.— Mr. W. Codd, County Coroner for Essex, held an inquest last Monday touching the death of John Bunn, a labourer, aged 65, who died suddenly early on Saturday morning. Deceased partook of a hearty supper on Friday night, was very cheerful, and went to bed as usual. Shortly after midnight his wife being awake he gave a sudden jerk with his arms, and presently she heard a rattling in his throat. She spoke to him two or three times, but getting no answer struck a light and called her neighbour, Geo. Golding, who came at once, and deceased died shortly afterwards. There was no doubt that deceased died a natural death, and a verdict to that effect was returned. ^[8][9]
