Biography

Janet is the daughter of John Buchanan and Janet Waddell.^[1]

John Doig married Janet Buchanan on 3 March 1787 in Kincardine, Perthshire, Scotland.

After John's death, Janet took her son, Paul, and eight daughters to Canada in 1817.

The baptism of 27 Jan 1770, Gargunnock for Janet is given in The Ancestors of Brian Doig RootsWeb tree which database states that the witnesses were Duncan Buchanan and John McLeish, both of Cambusbeg.

The entry for that date in Gargunnock, Stirlingshire reads: "Janry 27th Baptd to John Buchannan (sic) in Backside and Janet Waddel a daughter called (name unclear) Witnesses James Aik... and James Cameron." ^[2].

The next recorded baptism to John and Janet is in 1772, a daughter Jean in Kincardine.^[3]
