Buck Buchanan was an American professional football player who was a defensive tackle with the Kansas City Chiefs.^[1]

Junious Buchanan was born on 10 September 1939 in Gainesville, Alabama. He was the son of Wallace Buchanan and Fannie M Hutton.^[2]

Buck died on 16 July 1992 in Kansas City, Missouri, United States, aged 51^[2][5] and is buried in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, United States.^[6]

Career

Buck was a defensive tackle in the NFL. He played on the Kansas City Chiefs (1963-1975). He was a Super Bowl Champion (IV), a two times Pro Bowl (1970, 1971). He is in the Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame and his number 86 has been retired. ^[1]

Research Notes

The Wikipedia page and the Find a Grave memorial have Buck's year of birth as 1940. His birth year is 1939. If you look closely at the headstone picture on Find a Grave you can see it clearly shows 1939 and not 1940. Also looking at the 1940 US Census under age it shows 7/12 which is 7 months old.
