Biography

David was born or christened 9 September 1839 at Abbey (Paisley), Scotland. ^[1]

The family emigrated to New Zealand in 1848 aboard the Bernicia ^[2] , settling at East Taieri.

In 1868 in New Zealand, he married Christina Crawford. ^[3]

She passed away in 1886 at Greenlaw, East Taieri. ^[4]

Their children included James Brown (1869-1928) of Drummond. ^[5]

His body was found in Bluff Harbour on the 16 January 1923. An inquest found he had accidentally fallen into the harbour, while visiting the town. A witness, James Pennicott, last saw him around 5pm on the 15th. ^[6]

He is buried at East Taieri Cemetery. ^[7]

Research Notes

Parents ID because of the common place "Greenlaw" on his wife's death, and those parents. Also the names Watt and Marion occur in his descendants.
