Biography

Dawson Broomfield is a part of US Black heritage.

Dawson was born in 1857, the son of Gilbert and Amanda Broomfield. He married Ella Wynn 17 January 1880 in Hancock County, Georgia.^[1]

Dawson was on a list of freedmen, working for C. W. Jones in Culverton, Georgia paying a $10 poll tax for livestock in 1885.^[2] In 1886 he paid a tax of $50 for livestock and $5 for personal property; he was now working for J. M. Jones with his father and brothers.^[3]
