OBITUARY. The death of one of our oldest colonists, Mrs W. Ledgerwood, relict of the late Mr Wm. Ledgerwood, of Geelong, occurred at Murroon on Saturday evening. The deceased was a colonist of 73 years, 60 of which were spent continuously in Victoria. Mr and Mrs Ledgerwood left Scotland in 1826, under engagement to the Circular Head Company, of Tasmania, in whose employment Mr Ledgerwood remained for 13 years, during which time the whole of the company's plant was completed under his supervision. Then he came to Victoria, and established a profitable business as a builder. After Mr Ledgerwood's demise his widow resided continuously with her family until her death. Mrs Ledgerwood leaves a family of six sons and four daughters, viz., Messrs Robert, Thomas, and George Ledgerwood, and Mrs Dewing, of Murroon, William Ledgerwood of Benalla, and James Ledgerwood of Geelong, with numerous grandchildren. Mrs Ledgerwood had always retained a good memory, and on her death bed could recognise her family, and address them sensibly. Her death was a peaceful ending to a long and honorable career. Her remains will be interred to-day (Tuesday) in the Geelong cemetery at 2 p.m.
