The 1851 England census confirms place of birth as Sheffield, Yorkshire around 1826.

'The marriage of John Brailsford (bachelor, umbrella maker) & Emily Proudfoot (spnr) was conducted on 9 March 1851 City of London, Christ Church (Newgate Street). Father of bride & groom noted as John Proudfoot & Thomas Brailsford. [1] [2]

Living in John Street, Southwark with wife Emily in 1851. He was employed as an umbrella maker.[3]

John died in June 1860 quarter in St Luke District, London. [4]
