Adam Boyd was born about 1666 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, son of Adam Boyd (~1650–~1722) and Agnes Forsythe (~1655–1684).

Adam married Mary Norton (born in 1675 in Scotland) in Edinburgh, Scotland. Their son was John Boyd (1690–~1750).

Adam died in Renfrew, Stirlingshire, Scotland.

Research Notes

From Pennsylvania Genealogies, William H. Egle, 1886, pp 323-324, [LINN OF LURGAN family], it has "Early in 1714 , John Boyd II (1690-abt.1750) and a younger brother, Rev. Adam Boyd, left their native land, Scotland, arriving at Philadelphia in the summer of that year. John m., the year following, Jane (Craig) Boyd (abt.1695-aft.1750), daughter of Thomas Craig, and subsequently became (1728) one of the first emigrants to the " Irish Settlement ," now in Northampton county."

While there is some idea that this Adam Boyd was a Presbyterian Minister, about 10 or more years ago when I looked in the Scottish Fasti volumes, I could not find either Rev Adam Boyd, II, or III, but I did find Rev Adam Boyd, IV in the Irish Fasti at Coleraine in about 1722 or 23.^[1]
