He registered for the World War II draft, registering in Newcastle, Kentucky on April 27, 1942.[5] He stated that he lived in Defoe, Kentucky and that he was a farm owner. John was described as 5'8" and 145 pounds with grey hair and brown eyes and, having registered in the "old man's draft" at the age of 63, he did not enlist. John Bohannan passed away in Shelby County, Kentucky[6] at the age of 85[7] and is buried at Defoe Cemetery in Defoe, Kentucky.[8]
