DEATH SUMMONS ROBERT BISHOP, 93 Robert Bishop, 93, of 403 Pacific avenue, died yesterday after a long illness. A native of England, Mr. Bishop had lived in Long Beach for two years, coming here from Oakland, where he had resided most of his life. He was a retired capitalist. Surviving are his five daughters, Mrs. Emma Piddington, Hollywood, Calif.; Mrs. M. M. Graham, La Habra, Calif.; Mrs. Frank Miller, Stockton, Calif.; Mrs. Clara Chappell, Oakland, and Mrs. Ellen M. Harrison, 403 Pacific avenue, Long Beach, and four sons, Howard Bishop, Oakland; Frank Bishop, San Jose; Herbert Bishop, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Harold Bishop, San Luis Obispo. He was in county jail for 2 years while the trial progressed. The case went to superior court in 1900 and was continued repeatedly. After one such continuation, The Oakland Tribune 24 Jan 1900 reported "Juries have disagreed twice in his case." Robert Bishop was convicted and sent to prison 8 Jan 1902 and released 8 Aug 1905.
