Biography

Diane (Berry) Blankenship was born in Belvidere, Boone, Illinois.

Diane Carol Berry was born on 9 Jul 1944 in Belvidere, Boone, Illinois, as the daughter of Edwin H Berry (1910-1975) and Iva Martha (Peterson) Berry (1911-2000).^[1][2]

20 Dec 1949, at age 5, Diane wrote her letter to Santa with someone's help "I am 5 years old and in kindergarten. I have tried to be a good girl. Will you please bring .... set of dishes doll clothes, record "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer". Please bring my little brother Tommy some push toys and teddy bear."^[3]

On 3 Oct 1957 Diane was included in a newly organized chapter of FHA at the newer Washington Junior High School.^[4]

Diane and Kenneth R LaBuy married on 2 Jun 1961 in DeKalb County, Illinois.^[5]

Diane's father, Edwin H Berry (1910-1975), died on 25 Apr 1975. Diane LaBuy was living in Belvidere at the time of her father's death from what appeared to be an acute MI.^[1]

At some time after 1975 and before Dec 1986, she married Ted Blankenship who survived her in death.^[2]

On 4 Dec 1986, following a lengthy illness, Diane C LaBuy Blankenship died at Rockford Memorial Hospital, at age 42. Her last known address was 925 Anna Ave. in Machesney Park, Winnebago, Illinois. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Machesney. Survivors included her mother, Iva Berry of N St Paul, Minnesota, 2 sons - Scott (Phoenix, Arizona) and Todd (Belvidere, IL), 2 daughters - Lisa (lyndon Station Wisc.) and Brigette (Stevens Point, WIsc), 4 brothers - Tom Berry (Lodi, Wisc), John Berry (Rockford), Dan Berry(Boise, Idaho), and Robert Berry (St. Paul, Minn.).^[2]

Funeral services were held at 1 PM, Sat at the Delehanty funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park.^[2]
