Biography

Honnore Carre is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 9 Right Le Saint Remi. Listed in his household are the following: his wife Francoise Benoit, and their son Pierre; his mother-in-law Madeleine Theriot veuve Benoit, and his niece Victoire Benoit.[1]

Victorie Marie Benoit was born in France in 1772. She was the daughter of exiled Acadians Augustin Benoit and Marie Madeleine Gautrot. [2]

Victoire BENOIT, age 14, niece of Madelaine THERIOT (the widow of [Charles] BENOIT), traveling with her in the family of Honoré CARRET, his wife Francoise BENOIT, age 40 [daughter of Madelaine], and their son in the 47th family (of 5 persons) aboard "Le Saint Rémi.":

Honore CARRET, age 71 [sic, about 60], listed with his wife Francoise BENOIT, age 43, his niece Victoire BENOI, age 14, in a household of 3 persons. They have no slaves, 6 arpents of land, 26 quarts of corn, 1 horse and 3 hogs.

On January 7, 1794, she married Charles Bergeron, widower of Maria Forest.[5]
