Biography

Lucius Bennett was born 2 May 1840 in Galena, JoDaviess, Illinois. He was the son of James Bennett and Asenath Boyd.

Lucius Bennett served in the Civil War. He joined the Iowa Infantry, Company A, 9th Regiment. He joined in August 1861. He was wounded when a bullet struck him above his right eye. He mustered out as a Corporal in 1865.

Susan Denny married Lucius Bennett 22 May 1866 in Cedar County, Iowa. ^[1]

In 1870 they were living in Clinton, Iowa and have one young son.^[2]

In 1880 Susan and Lucius have four children: three sons and one daughter.^[3]

The 1900 census shows the family living in Woodbury County, Iowa. Lucius is 60, Susan is 51; she has given birth to four children and three are living. One of their sons, Frank, is 28 and living with them. Susan's parents are also living in the household. James Denny is 79 and was born in Illinois; Eliza Denny is 74, also born in Illinois.^[4]

Lucius Bennett died 28 February 1909 and is buried in the Morning View Cemetry, Wallace, Lincoln County, Nebraska. His FAG memorial includes photos of him plus his Civil War tombstone; also there are links to his wife and children. ^[5]

Lucius BENNETT ^[6] is a Y_DNA match to ancestor Henry Bennett b 1629, via DNA test of descendant Randy Bennett.

The paternal line is confirmed. Y-DNA results indicate an inferred relationship to to ancestor Henry Bennett b 1629 between the following descendants vis Henrys son Benjamin with Lee Bennett, William Bennett, Kurt Bennett, Phillip Bennett, Randy Bennett, Jay Bennett, Alfred Bennett, Franklin Bennett.
