I have completed quite a large amount of my family tree, mainly on the mothers side. After 25 years of searching I still cannot find my Grandfather.
The only information I have is my Fathers Birth Certificate Harod Bennett B 8 Nov 1917 Chorley Lancashire, with His fathers Name shown as Joseph Bennett. William Bennett 43yrs was married 14 April 1917 to Jane Annie Bennett 27yrs at Stanwix Carlisle Cumberland.

Biography
Born 26 Dec 1947 however on searching it shows the birth as registered in 1948. Home address shown was 9 West Vallum, Denton Burn, Newcastle upon Tyne. Mother shown as Joyce Leonora Bennett (nee Carruthers, but she never married Harold Bennett. Circa 1952 - 1963. Barry was living in a ground floor flat at 146 Ladykirk Road, Benwell, Newcastle upon Tyne, with his mother Joyce and siblings Sandra and Carol Erskine. Harold and Joyce has separated. His Grandmother Caroline Lena Egner lived in the flat above 148 Ladykirk Road, Benwell, Newcastle upon Tyne Barry attended Canning Street School until he was 11 years old. He passed his 11+ then attended John Marlay Technical School, Westerhope, Newcastle upon Tyne Leavin in 1964 at the age of 16yrs In May 1965 he attended The merchant Navy College in Gravesend Kent, where he completed his training as a Stewart. Later embarking in a short career in the merchant Navy leaving in 1968/69. He served on the following ships, Mv Trewidden, Mv Canopic, Mv Athenic, Mv British Bulldog, Mv British Judge and the Mv British Grenadier. In 1969 he was employed as a Lighter Mechanic at the Ronson Lighter Factory in North Shields. In 1972 he was employed at Albert Edward Dock, North Shields as Docker. On the 12th April 1976 he joined Northumbria Police as a Police Constable, (PC 109) intially stationed at Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne. In August 1978 he moved to North Shields North Tyneside where he finished his service in December 2002. Still at the rank of Police Constable, at the age of 55yrs. He decided to retire early at 55yrs. However in 2009 with The National Trust he volunteered as a gardener and a Maintenance man. He is still there to date (10 March 2024)

While in the Navy his mother moved a few times 1a Clarence Cresent Whitley Bay, 11 East Parade Whitley Bay, and The Sydnham Guest House, 31 The Esplande Whitley Bay. When Barry left the Merchant Navy he went to live with his sister Carol at 5 Esplanade Ave, Whitley Bay.
