He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1912 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)
He fought in the First World War, serving with the Guards Machine Gun Regiment when he was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.). He was commissioned into the Life Guards and was promoted to the rank of Captain.[1]
He married Violet Lucy Emily Seely, daughter of Sir Charles Hilton Seely, 2nd Bt. and Hilda Lucy Grant, on 20 July 1921 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church, London, England.
He died aged 66 on the 16th of December 1956 in Bywell Hall. Stocksfleld-on-Tyne, Northumberland, England.
