Biography

John was born in 1850. He was the son of Lewis Beaton and Betsy Clasey. As a toddler he migrated with his parents from Scotland to New York on the ship "Corra Linn", arrived in New York on 7 June 1852. The passenger list mistakenly showed his name as "William Beaton".

Just over a year after they arrived in New York, Lewis Beaton died of cholera, age 32 in 1853. Betsy remarried to William Henderson about 1855 and they moved to Derby, Ontario before 1861, taking her son John.

John Beaton married Mary Ann Forrest in 1889 and they had three sons. John passed away in 1926 at Tara, Ontario. ^[1]
