On 25 August 1863, in Muscaline, Iowa, John Thompson Bean married Mary Elizabeth Wiley (1847-1893) the daughter of James Wiley, who immigrated to Iowa from Ohio.
John and Elizabeth had twelve children, two of whom died in infancy. Mary died of cancer, at Vinton, Iowa. Both John and Elizabeth are buried in Bloomington Cemetery, four miles north of Muscaline, Iowa[1]
He passed away 9 February 1923 in Kansas City, Kansas.[2]
