Biography

Obed Bean is the son of John Bean, born 1829 in Miffin County, Pennsylvania and Mary (Berry) Bean.

Obed married Emma Boyd, the daughter of Arion Boyd and Nancy (Carnahan) Boyd of Lagrange, Indiana and had two children, both born in Lagrange:

Earl John Bean, born in 1886; James Casper Bean, born August 4, 1888;

Emma was born Jul 12, 1861 and died in 1888, very possibly the result of childbirth. Obed married her younger sister Mary Boyd (born in 1865) they and had 3 children, also born in Lagrange:

Horace Bean, born 1893, married Zenobia VanderKooi;

Ella Bean, born 1899, married William Vandercoy;

Hewlitt bean, born 1904, died Aug 6, 1967 in Michigan
