William was born in 1860.

He married Lilla Jane Willard, May 19, 1894 in Oregon Co.[1]

Mar 11, 1926, pg 3 - Rover - Mr. and Mrs. Norman bought the Riley Baty property and will move there soon, and Mr. Baty plans to build a new house.
Sept 2, 1926, pg 6 - Riley Baty and sons Marion & Eddie are building a lodge hall over Ed White’s store.
Sept 9, 1926, pg 6 - Work has commenced on a new lodge hall with Riley Baty of Thomasville as foreman.
Oct 7, 1926, Pg 1 - The Baptist congregation at Rover are building a new church. It is being constructed of concrete blocks. Riley Baty & sons are the contractors.
(This church was demolished 2 months later in the tornado).
Dec 2, 1926, pg 1 - Tornado kills many - ....At Rover the concrete store building of E.A. White was demolished Several persons seeking refuge from the storm were in the store, Mr and Mrs White, Riley Baty, and Gus Jolliff were injured. White’s mill was also destroyed. L.A. Garrett’s store at this point was leveled to the (ground) and the new Baptist church was demolished. …

He was in the 1926 [Rover tornado].

About 6:30 Thursday night, Nov. 25th, a tornado swept the town of Brandsville, leaving death and destruction in its wake. ….
At Rover in Oregon county, two stores, a church and one dwelling were destroyed and five persons injured ….

Lilla Jane died in 1935, age 61.
Riley died in 1948, age 78.
His obit says he died Jan. 15, but his tombstone says July 15

Obit from South Missourian Democrat, Jan 22, 1948:
"William Riley Baty was born July 28, 1869 [and died Jan 15, 1948] at the age of 78 yrs, 5 mos, and 18 days. His home was in Thomasville but he passed away at the home of his son, Eddie Baty, in Butler, Ala. He is survived by 2 sons, Eddie Baty of Butler, Ala., and Marion Baty of Thomasville, Mo. 2 gransons, Edward and Jimmie Baty, 1 brother, Johnny Baty of Rover, Mo, 1 sister, Pagie Roundtree of West Plains, Mo. and many nieces and nephews. He joined the Freewill Baptist Church at the Jolliff School when quite young and was ready to go to be with Jesus. Funeral services were conducted Sun. at 2 pm at the Jolliff cemetery by Bro. Napier, assisted by Bro. Joe Willard and Bro. Joe Combs. Burial under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Thayer."
