Susan Alice Baty was born at Pella, Iowa, October 19, 1860, and departed this life at Knoxville, Iowa, August 5, 1938, at the age of 77 years, 9 months, and 16 days.

She was united in marriage to Jeptha King Clark, Dec. 3, 1876. To this union were born 15 children. She was preceded in death by her husband and three sons. Those still living are Rosa Baker of Woodward, Iowa; Clara Littell, Brownville, Oregon; Jeptha, of Des Moines; Charlie, of Des Moines; Mabel Johnson, of Currie, Minnesota; Pete, John, Ray, Joe and Marion of the vicinity of Dunreath, Iowa; Joy, of Des Moines; and Alda Webb, of Bussey, Iowa.

Her entire life has been spent at the old home near Dunreath. She united with the reformed Church of Latter Day Saints some twenty years ago to which she has been a faithful servant. She was a loving wife and mother. Her sight and hearing were impaired in her later years, which kept her from the busy life of service which she had previously enjoyed.

She leaves to mourn her loss twelve children, 56 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 6 brothers, two sisters, and many other relatives and friends.
