Biography

Alexander Barclay was born about 1797 in Sutherland, Scotland. As a member of the 66th Regiment of Foot, he accompanied Napoleon Bonaparte to his exile on Saint Helena^[1]. Following the death of Napolean in 1821, the 66th were scheduled to return to England. Alexander Barclay was one of several men who chose to transfer to the St Helena Regiment on 25 May 1821 and remain on St Helena.
