Biography
William Frederick Barber was born on the 21st August 1844 and christened on the 1st November 1844 in Kurnool, Madras, India; his parents Frederick Charles Barber and Christiana.
William's father, General F. C. Barber was in the service of the East India Company
William Barber migrated from Scotland to New Zealand.
William Barber emigrated with his uncle Allan Kerr Taylor from Scotland to New Zealand in 1862; ship William Miles
He settled on a farm in Mangere and married the second daughter of Thomas White in 1873.
Their five children were:
- Frederick Charles
- Percy Edward
- William Innes
- Beatrice Annie
- Frances Emily
His death occurred after several months of painful illness, and he was survived by his widow, three sons and two daughters.
