Paschal Prentice Banks was born at Alstead, New Hampshire, on 26 Aug 1816, the son of Andrew Adams Banks and Fanny (Livermore) Banks.[1] He is named in the will of his father, made in November 1870.[2]
Marriage
Paschal Prentice Banks married Lydia Adeline Thayer.[3] No record of the marriage has been found, but the death record of Adeline Banks names as her parents Larned Thayer and Lydia Silsby.[4]
Children
The 1869 history of Acworth, New Hampshire, says that Paschal and Adeline (Thayer) Banks had one child, Charles Banks, who died young.[3] An Ancestry.com profile says that Charles was born at Alstead on 8 Feb 1845 and died there on 22 May 1849, but it cites no sources, and none have been found.[5]
Biographical Details
In 1850, Pascal (sic) P. Banks, 32, farmer, and Adaline L. Banks, 30, were living at Alstead in the household of Adaline's sister, Sophia Rachel (Thayer) Prentiss, and her family.[6]
In 1856, Paschal P. Banks and his brother, Gardner George Banks, purchased a sawmill on Warren Brook in East Alstead.[7]
In 1860, Paschal P. Banks, 42, farmer, and Adalin (sic) Banks, 40, were living at Alstead with Harry M. Downer, 40, laborer, Mary Downer, 26, and Amos C. Cumming, 22, laborer.[8]
In 1862, Paschal P. Banks represented Alstead in the New Hampshire House of Representatives.[9]
In 1870, Paschal Banks, 54, paper manufacturer, and Adaline Banks, 51, keeping house, were living at Alstead.[10]
In 1880, Paschal P. Banks, 63, paper manufacturer, Adaline L. Banks, 60, his wife, keeping house, and Addie M. Thayer, 9, a boarder, were living at Alstead.[11]
Will
Paschal P. Banks of Alstead, New Hampshire, made his will on 17 Apr 1857, naming his wife Adaline L. Banks, who is also named as the executor.[12]
Death
Paschal P. Banks, papermaker, died from meningitis at Alstead, New Hampshire, on 28 Mar 1881, with his age at his death reported as 65.[13]
Probate
The Court of Probate of Cheshire County, New Hampshire, on 1 Apr 1881 appointed Adaline L. Banks to administer the estate of her late husband, Paschal P. Banks of Alstead.[14] On 14 Mar 1882, Adaline L. Banks having died before completing the administration, the court appointed Frederic Leroy Prentiss of Alstead to complete the administration of the estate.[15]
