Biography

User submitted sources indicate that Urania Ball was born around 01 October 1769, at Newfane, New Hampshire Grants, ^[1] and died around 28 January 1807, at the age of 37. She is buried in Bainbridge, Chenango, New York, United States, presumably where she died. ^[2] According to different user-submitted sources, she was the daughter of Samuel H Ball (abt 1742-abt 1831) and Phebe Taylor (abt 1740-abt 1814). Samuel and Phebe had at least 12 children. A 13th child, Sarah, is mentioned in Familysearch.org genealogies, but no information was located for her. ^[3]

Urania married Moses Stockwell (abt 1769-aft Jun 1855). The marriage date has been estimated @ 1796 based on her first child Abel's birth date around 1797. The marriage ended with her death around 28 January 1807. ^[2] He remarried and died around a half century later, after 11 Jun 1855 (last census). ^[4]

1. Joel Stockwell (abt 1798-after Jun 1880), appears in the 1880 Census (last census for him). ^[8]
2. Eli Stockwell (1799-aft Nov 1850; possibly in 1889) , appears in the 1850 census (last census for him). ^[9] A Find a Grave entry was located for an Eli Stockwell who died in 1889 in New Jersey, but it is not clear if this is the same Eli. His wife is listed as "Almira", while in the census, he was with a "Mary". Further investigation has not been carried out. ^[10]

Urania Stockwell (Bixby, abt 1807-after Jun 1880), appears in the 1850 and ^[11] the 1880 census (last census for her). ^[12] Her married name, Bixby, appeared in a Rootsweb page, no longer available, in reference to her daughter Sarah, who married John Sylvara (1830-1864) who drowned in the creek at Muncy, Lycoming, Pennsylvania. ^[13]
