Evelyn Georgina Mary Balfour lived at Terling Place, the estate of her husband, 3rd Baron Rayleigh. She is credited with the development of parts of the estate gardens. She has a memorial plaque in Chelmsford Cathedral commemorating her inspiration for the creation of District Nursing in Essex. Evelyn is buried with her husband in All Saints Churchyard, Terling, Essex, United Kingdom.
Evelyn's brother, Sir Arthur James Balfour became a Prime Minister of England.
