Biography
Irene was born in 1928 on a farm in Henribourg, Saskatchewan; the eldest child of Scottish parents: William Bain and Helen Petrie.
Irene had to take responsibility and parent her seven younger siblings; after her mother passed away when she was 12 years old. Irene later moved to Alberta as an adult.
She met her husband, Joseph, while living in Whitecourt. They married in 1950; and together they had four children: Andrew, Linda, Patrick, and Holly. They moved to Edmonton in 1964.
Irene had to become a single parent for her 2 youngest children after Joe passed away in 1971. Irene then dated Ed Leckelt until his death in 2013.
She passed away in 2020; having lived a long life of 91 years.
