When the steamer Wingatui was being loaded this afternoon at Holmes Wharf, a railway truck passed over John Bain, a married, watersider, aged 65, who suffered shocking injuries, both legs being broken. Bain was removed to hospital and his right leg was amputated. His condition is critical. [2]
