Biography

This profile is part of the Watten, Caithness One Place Study.

"Helen Bakie", daughter of Donald Bakie and Helen Ranaldson, was born about 1823 and baptised in Watten, Caithness, on 20 April 1823.[1]

Donald Baikie and his wife Helen were living in Pulteney, Wick, Caithness in 1851. Donald's profession was carter. Living with Donald and Helen were their daughters Elizabeth and Margaret and a lodger and pauper, Chersty (likely Christy) Harrold aged 70.[2]

The surname is recorded here as BAIKIE as this is the most common spelling, not Bakie.
