Biography

Winfield Backus died young.

The son of Orange Backus and Lydia (Van Buren) Backus, Winfield Backus was born in Marion Township, Michigan[1] in 1897, residing there with his family.[2][3] He died at the age of 15 from injuries sustained after he was struck by a freight train, in Gregory, Michigan.[4] He is buried with his parents at Green Cemetery in Howell, Michigan.[5]
