Biography

Elias Austin was the grandfather of Stephen F. Austin, founding father of Texas and decendant of Richard Austin II, the early New England colonist.

Elias Austin was born^[1] on 14 April 1718 in Suffield, Hartford County, Connecticut. He was the son, youngest of ten children of Richard Austin and Dorothy (Adams) Austin.

Around 1745 Elias married Eunice Phelps. Between 1746 and 1769 Enice gave birth^[2] to their eleven children.

Eunice died^[3] in 1771. Elais Austin passed away on 14 Oct 1776 in Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut. He is buried^[4] at Old Durham Cemetery, Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut next to Eunice.
